Artist Statement for Deepwithinthearmoir:
My work is an attempt to express the internal dialogue that one struggles to convey naturally.
I incorporate the human element into a natural setting with the intent of showing a relationship
from which I feel we have become spiritually disconnected. Nature has many sides,
both strange and beautiful and I feel most inspired when they are revealed to me through my explorations.
Like all artists, I find my work to be a release from my everyday struggles,
yet my underlying vein of symbolism is intended to allow the viewer
to connect to the image in their own personal way.
My images include earth, water, darkness, light and the human form;
sometimes utilizing collage for what I cannot accomplish through traditional techniques.
The themes that I explore include freedom, captivity, loss, change, and death.
I find these concepts to be the most influential to me, both spiritually and emotionally.
All living things have many forms, some which we can easily see and some which we cannot.
Is it possible that death is the final chapter of life or is it the beginning of another form of existence?
